I compared the data-fork with the official 6.4.3 version. It is 100% identical except for the version numbers.
So this is definitely only a resource / graphics update. The code is unchanged from 6.4.3!

Most probably a mockup for the showroom.

I read in another thread that booting is sadly unsolved (what would double the "HD"-throughput compared to the IDE bus).

Huh? What booting is unsolved? Off of PCMCI cards or off of something else external, like FW, for example?

That really looks amazing !

A huge upgrade... remember, I had to for all the graphics for the domain and the forum in about 3 days, so it was very rushed :(

Nice to see it look so cool.

Hardware / Powerbook Ti 1GHz PC Cards?
« Last post by Mat on Today at 08:29:08 AM »
As I never cared about PCMCIA/CardBus/PC Cards, I am kind of newbie regarding such hardware. Please go on and tell me what kind of Type I/II PC Cards are in existance for my 1GHz Ti Powerbook. I read in another thread that booting is sadly unsolved (what would double the "HD"-throughput compared to the IDE bus).

Go on and inspire me. What can be done with such cards? The more useful the better! Please just Mac OS 9 compatible stuff – so for example no no USB 2 cards that work as USB 1 ;)

Hello everyone! Been x86 user most of my life, and have been eyeing alternative architectures for some while. And for some time now, my fixation was on PowerPC and RISC in general. Finally got myself some Mac Minis and a Powerbook for a good price to play around and see what's all the fuss is about.

Nice!

Thanks!

Another one is listed. This is very similar to the last one except it has a bit less yellowing as you can see in the photos. There is a scuff near the optical drive on the front. It's a 1.42 Ghz/1 GB/128 GB SSD with the Mac OS 9 image pre-installed and accessories (speakers, mouse, power adapter). It has WiFi and Bluetooth but they don't work under Mac OS 9 of course. No reserve on the auction.

@hoovers@dawn Awesome!!! :) These are all so much better!

If I was told to choose just 1, I think my favorite one is "Artboard 4.png". Following a "less is more" point-of-view, which I think is also an old, usual way of doing things by Apple, it has everything just absolutely right. Everything in the logo counts: the size, the color, the spacing, the sizing, the emphasis in the end, the lack of emphasis in the beginning with the grey color... The transition of color upon reading it (from grey to black) even suggests a resurrection, or a return! A comeback! It's great!

"Artboard 2.png" is also excellent, hitting a few "different spots", and had me torn between it and "Artboard 4.png". In the end, I think I slightly prefer the latter, because thanks to the grey-to-black color transition in the font, the "..." becomes less needed, all "pause" is simulated (although more moderately) with the color transition. I like the extra impact of two exclamation marks in the end, too, but I also feel a single exclamation mark also does the job, but in a more lean or "long-lasting" manner, when thinking about multiple visits and revisits to the website.

I guess one thing going for "Artboard 2.png" though is that it more strongly communicates this feeling of surprise, via an exclamation of the unexpected, thus better referencing the likes of "it's ALIVE! It LIVES!!" Frankenstein-esque quotes. This is such a tough pick!

TL;DR I prefer "Artboard 4.png" above all the others, but "Artboard 2.png" (which is right now in use) also works great, and nonetheless I leave it to the admins / everyone else to decide. :)
