A piece of internet history is back! The new site tracker.bigredh.com spiritually revives the classic Hotline meta tracker network tracker-tracker.com, a system that once connected thousands of servers across the world in the late ’90s and early 2000s.
For those unfamiliar, Hotline was an early community platform that combined chat, file sharing, and message boards long before modern social media. Trackers acted as directories, listing active servers so users could discover communities and files. tracker.bigredh.com continues that tradition, offering a live, searchable list of active Hotline servers, much like the now-defunct tracker-tracker.com once did but with a modern twist. Like the original, it doesn’t host files itself but helps users find where communities are still active.
We at Mac OS 9 Lives still use Hotline to host and share our collection of classic Mac software, updates, and resources with the community. If you connect through one of the listed servers, you’ll find a thriving archive of OS 9 tools and discussions that keep vintage Macs alive and running.
This revival brings a nostalgic yet functional glimpse of the early internet era back to life, and it’s great to see the Hotline spirit continue into 2025.
