Well I finished all his books, now I am reading "The Language of the Third Reich" printed in 1947 in what used to be East Germany.

I can see why he got letters from West Germany saying his repudiation and criticism of the NSDAP is falling on deaf ears in the East, and how the communist government does the same things the NSDAP did, but he doesn't give the communists the same labels.

Still an interesting read and worth finding!

I just found out again today the beauty of deadlines when it comes to reading, how I miss having the sword by my neck to read 200 pages of different things a week in college! I read like 50 pages of stuff for a book club-type thing, I've never just sat down and read that much in an hour in some time unfortunately! ;p

The only copy of "The Language of the Third Reich", I found that was affordable for me (free) was a pdf copy on archive.org. So I will have to read that on my tablet. I do like to read and being retired I have no problems getting through a few hundred pages a week.

I am kind of curious to see if I can understand the book. It is an English translation. But being about using the German language to manipulate German culture, it seems like it might be quite incomprehensible to an American English speaker.

I used to read everything printed on "dead trees", but I took very quickly to reading on a screen. I like to be able to manipulate the fonts and sizes and in honesty it is nice to empty out lots of old book shelves. Some seller now days will include an ePub/pdf for just a couple dollars if you buy the book. I sometime do that and just donate the "real" book to the library.

I don't want to really get into today's politics, but I certainly can see shades of the current administration in both the NSDAP and Communist governments.

I have read the book four times in my life. I just cannot stand the part of the Rhoem revolt where Shires equates homosexuality as something evil or deprived, whereas the rest is a gold mine of information.

Dang, I have been telling myself im going to read a book,  I have a bunch of them, but I only get around to reading my daily chapter in the Bible. Ive been meaning to read Atlas shrugged for years, but i always get busy and get sidetracked with life.

Too real :/ who wants to read books when you can read infinite things on the internet? And things on the internet have flashy fun colors and images!!!!!

...though more on the topic at hand, I just got a copy of "Defying Gravity" about the making of the Apple Newton. It's ridiculously 90s - the graphic design, the writing, everything... It was also written BEFORE the Newton first launched, and the book is just so gosh dang excited about this Newton thing that is going to CHANGE THE WORLD.

I mean, it kind of did? I'm sure it helped inspire and push people along to eventually make smartphones, so perhaps their excitement for its potential was not too misplaced. It just took Apple another few years to come back around with the iPhone.
