totally understandable that you can not go into mass production and then make a loss with it.

and of course i´ve missed that there is no ADC connectors you can buy, which is basically why you decided to do it internally (or at all)

i am a lucky owner of an ADC to VGA adapter but i needed months to finally find one at an affordable price after i lost my old one. without it i could not have switched from 3 to 2 monitors and free a PCI slot by doing so.

To date I have converted an ATI Rage Pro, a Radeon 7500, a GeForce 2 MX and a GeForce 4 MX, but I have yet to convert a Radeon 9000 Pro. All of them have worked, except to say that both Nvidia cards did not display an image until they almost reached the desktop on their first boot, but subsequent boots already display an image from the beginning. These two graphics cards, under OSX although they boot by default with the compatible resolution, offer all resolutions, even if they are not compatible. Under OS9 they offer the compatible resolution and 1920 x 1080. The ATI cards offer all the resolutions supported by the monitor on both systems.

I took the opportunity to run more tests. Until now, I'd always connected to monitors with HDMI inputs, but today I wanted to try connecting this HDMI output to a monitor with DVI. It wasn't so easy.

First, I tried using a cable with HDMI on one end and DVI on the other. I didn't get an image. However, I did get an image by connecting a small DVI-to-HDMI adapter to the monitor's DVI connector and then using an HDMI-to-HDMI cable. I suppose it depends on the quality and wiring of the cables and adapters, so each case will have to be verified. Out of curiosity, I then tried using this DVI-to-HDMI cable on a monitor with both DVI and DisplayPort inputs, and it worked using the DVI connector. Perhaps because the monitor has DP connectors, which are more contemporary to HDMI.

How about connecting it with an HDMI cable to an HDMI - DVI connector, then into a DVI to VGA converter… AND then, into an old VGA CRT monitor? [You know that I am joking?]

You’re going to drive yourself even crazy-er (“and you know it”) with all of these contingencies.

ALL of your time and effort(s) are extremely appreciated here - as we seem to be running a bit short of any actual REAL innovation(s) ‘round here lately. But please do not burn yourself out in the process.
