My favourite is the Lexicon 224 but i also have space for the DP4+ and Sony DPS V77.  Also a Lexicon Studiocore PC90 which i sometimes use with my G3 Beige although its better on Win98 as you can route audio in and out without launching an ASIO application like cubase.

and use the reverb effect? as an aux send??

i read that you can add up to 3 of these interfaces with one single lexicon card
expanding audio i/o to 24 in/out

does this unit that u have feature ADAT optical connection?

hi,
ok there were meant to be 3 different expanders for the studio core but i think they only ever released this one the 12T and the 10T.  I have seen the 10T on eBay a couple of times but without the special cable and its difficult to make that cable as it is HP with very fine pints.

On win98 i can use MIMO drivers and route audio as i would an external effects unit.  On OS9 i have to use an ASIO program, i have tried the standalone VST wrapper type things to try and get the Lexicon PC90 VST to route audio without a DAW but i've not been successful. 

My unit the 12T does have adat.  The PC90 reverb is missing all the plates but it does have presets that differ from the PCM90 and Lex300 from which it is derived. 

It is a great card but lexicon gave up on it too quickly.   The other lexicon reverb on a card is the Nuverb and thats much closer to the Lex300.

i think a lot of the lexicon reverb quality has to do with the analog side of their units. I just fixed a PCM80 and inside there is an AD1865 legendary DAC coupled to a Burr Brown oversampling filter which goes to an Op-amp and then a separate line driver by SSM a 2142.  So you get distortion free gain, and a lot of gain and thats not to mention headroom on the D/A side. 

On the 224 you have transformer coupled outputs in an Class A/B Amplifier arrangement. 

So, plugins will get you so far but if you want the real deal you need hardware, in my view at least.

HARDWARE: Lexicon Reflex (because I have the Galaxy editor for it) OR MIDIVerb 4.
Like Swiss Army knives, they get the job done.

SOFTWARE:  Altiverb, Ambience, Native Reverb Plus, any one of a dozen others.

REMARKABLE STANDOUT: PSP Pianoverb… who knew? It's supposed to sound like the inside of a grand piano. It's just a unique, cool sounding thang!

what about the pantheon vst.. does it exist for mac os 9?? i think it came out in 2004...

checking this it says mac os 10.2.8 is required.. damn!!

i dont really think so, the more important parts are in the code. the 5 main algos used in the PCM series gives a specific character.

but of course you can also expect proper amplification in more expensive units.
