How long has this board been online?  I am surprised I have never heard of it until doing a search for something for OS 9.

OK! I've been summoned. Can't immediately find anything to post a reply to as you guys seem to have everything well in hand. But if I can contribute I will. OS 9 isn't my OS of choice, but I did work in it for four years and I've got two Macs at home that use it (although I don't use them much).

Anyway, just chiming in…

Yeah, I wanted to max it out. Or as much maxed out as I can. The ultimate goal will be five 23" Cinema HD Displays. Given that the Radeons can drive two displays at a time and there's a third video card that's five. Eventually the Rage 128 will be replaced with a TV tuner card.

The only other question at this point (or any point actually) is…why? My answer is because I can. Some people keep pouring money into their classic cars. I pour my limited amount of money in to my Macs. Because I can do this, I want to do this. The Mac Pro I have at work drives three displays. I've already got that at home. There is an advantage to this however, as I work in Graphic Design. I can have my palettes on one display and my document on another and my Finder windows on yet another. With five displays I can do a bit more.

What's funny right now though is that even at this point having done all this the power increase is scary! It's gone from how I bought it to wicked fast. Ok, that's an overstatement but it is considerably faster than I thought it was going to be.

I am afraid MDD PSUs are not enough powerful for Xtreme graphics cards "CoreImage". 2 angry card make the psu go full almost all the time, making them last less time. I use and care my macs  ;)

QS PSU's are smaller in watts, but have the ATX dimensions

Yeah, that was a question I had. If my power supply was capable of driving all I've got in it. I will be honest right now. Because I want to use the 20" Cinema Display I do not have the Radeon 9800 Pro installed. It's the NVIDIA GeForce 2MX with the ADC port. But, I did test the Radeon and the Mac drove all three cards (9800 Pro, 9200 Pro and Rage 128). Right now it's got all 5 PCI slots occupied and the AGP slot and no issues. And that included one of the stock fans I replaced. If I need to get a larger PSU at some point I'll see about that, but it doesn't appear to be an issue at the moment. All of the displays would be drawing their own power. I'm in the market for DVI to ADC converters for the Studio Displays and the Cinema Displays.

Ultimately, if it turns out I can't do this, well at least I know. I don't mind pushing full power all the time (I leave my Macs on 24/7) if I have a good reason.

This is a great forum. I've gotten a lot out of it in the short time I've been here. I think it'll grow a bit bigger over time. Maybe not too big since people don't use rigs like we do, but this is definitely turning out to be the best place out there for what we do.
