MAC OS 9 OR Running classic enviroment on 10.4
« on: February 04, 2020, 04:15:30 AM »

Hi
I have some software that I need to open.
I have a Powerbook G4 with Mac OS 10.4 on it.
But I can not run the classic environment on this either.
I thought you could run the classic environment on  10.4 on a G4 PowerBook?
Kind Regards

To run the Classic enviroment you need a System folder from Mac OS 9. Download the "drag and drop" version to any place on your hard disk and go to Mac OS X settings and tell the classic control panel where is your Mac OS 9 system folder

Hi
So I have managed to get as far as starting.
now I get a message saying "the system software on the startup disk only functions on the original media, not if copied to another drive"

Any ideas what we can do?

I copied it from an original OS 9 CD.

You just dropped the folder from the installer. That can only be rightly done with the drag and drop AKA Mactron´s  version.

Let´s start the favourite game of GaryN. Asume-presume.

Lets asume you have your Tiger running. Maybe you just clonned an Intel-Tiger partition. In that way you will not have the Classic control Panel AFAIK.

you should not even need the controlpanel. OSX should prompt to choose a OS9 folder when you launch a classic app.

No, I have Tiger but I am not using partitions it is fully installed on the Mac.
Is there any way I can get over this error about the, "not if copied issue"?

I am so almost there but I am just not having any luck.

I've never used it.
But I just downloaded v4. Seems to be a control panel, which I just dragged to system folder to install.
I believe Error -47 is 'file is busy'. Perhaps you have it installed already?
