gmedia imposcar
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may04/articles/imposcar.htm

ImpOSCar arrived with a brief but beautifully produced manual and a CD containing four versions of the software: Mac OS 9.x VST, Mac OS X VST, Mac OS X Audio Units, and PC (Windows 98, SE, ME, 2000 and XP) VST. Despite this cornucopia, I was rather disappointed to find no Mac stand-alone version (which, I understand, is planned for a future release at an as-yet unspecified time). I'm a MAS man (ie. a user of MOTU's Digital Performer), and tend not to use VST applications, so a stand-alone version can eliminate many headaches. Anyway, I was unable to use ImpOSCar on my studio's G4 tower because it does not support VSTis, so I loaded the Mac OS 9.x version onto a 1MHz G4 OS X Titanium Powerbook on which I keep a couple of OS9.x VSTi hosts.

This Virtual instrument sounds really amazing! It is one of the best.

A couple of tricks:

To change the way impOSCar startup, we have to edit the file impOSCarOS9.sup (placed on the VST folder):
Code: [Select]
ImpOSCar Configuration File
{Knob Mode}{System Default}
{Edit Mode}{Minimal}
{Effects Panel}{closed}
{Damper Scale}{0.5}
...

{Effects Panel}{closed}
can be changed to {open}

{Edit Mode}{Minimal}
can be changed to {Keyboard}, {Wave 1}, {Wave 2} or {CC Setup}

It can be used as an insert FX also:

I also have an experimental standalone version of impOSCar, if someone want to give it a try...

I've installed Imposcar but somehow I get a failed to load plugin message within Cubase VST. Never had that one.... ::)
Any suggestions?

Problem seems to be the serial as published in the download section. Any input works for the installer....but while loading in Cubase the plug verifies all and stops loading. Does anyone have a working serial for me? Would be appreciated!

Sorry. There was a mistake in the impOSCar serial number posted in the downloads page. But it is solved.
Enjoy!

Great! I must say I am very impressed by this VSTI. In fact it's one of the few VSTI's that really stands out. It just sounds right; lush & bright. Even in 2014 it's up to date. Perfectly matches my hardware synths; you can't tell it's a VSTI. To me this one and Atmosphere are the best VSTI's on OS9. A big thank you for putting it up in the download section!  8)

Until now my favorite VSTi was NI FM7, now on testing the impOSCar I'm not so sure :)

NI FM7 definitely belongs to the best-of-OS9 list. I use it in almost all my productions. I have the Yamaha PLG150-DX card in my Motif and I've compared the sound often. There is no audible difference.

V 1.0.8 may be it was available for Mac Os 9.
v 1.1.1 seems to be Mac Os X only.

The motif and the plugin boards all have Mac os9 editors. You can also access the motif file system with a file transfer/editor app. All can be downloaded from the Yamaha websites.
