Hi Chris,

I bought the first converter; didn't work out for me. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-2-5-3-5-Drive-SATA-to-ATA-IDE-40-PIN-Converter-Adapter-WIN-7-Mac-OS-8-6-/370836887498?pt=US_Drive_Cables_dapters&hash=item565799d7ca)

I tried to install it with an optical 2.5" Samsung 250GB HD. I was a pain in the ***. My Quicksilver did recognize the drive and all seemed working well at first. But while working om my mac the disk/coverter crashed several times giving me HFS wrapper failure, corrupt data, writing failures etc etc.. After three times reinstalling my entire system I am back to a refurbished 3.5" HD which works fine.  ::)

Greetz,
Arjen

The only ones that really work on Mac Os 9, are those with a couple of leds. If the leds are SMD are hard to see in the pictures. And usually have an Master & Slave switch also.

These component are tricky.  ::)

I have both models. One worked and the other doesn't worked .
The one that worked have an IC labeled JMD330 and  is placed in the side of the SATA connector. The one that don't worked have an IC labeled JM20330 and  is placed in the side of the PATA connector.

May be the different IC is the main reason for this behavior.
