this one would be great to combine with a 4 x SATA
card by Firmtek such as the seritek 1v4 (http://www.firmtek.com/seritek/seritek-1v4/)
to fit nicely 4 x 500gb, 750gb or 1TB laptop drives..

this ones fits 2.5" drives into a 3.5" bay space.. like the one on the g4's originally intended for floppy or zip drive..
i wonder it it has a hotswap like slide in socket mechanism tho for the sata plugs or if u have to plug in manually on the other side..

actually did any g4 ship with floppies? i dont think i can rememeber ever seeing a floppy in  one;)

Vantec Storage MRK-425ST-BK 4-Bay 2.5 inch
http://www.vantecusa.com/en/product/view_detail/483

heres another 4 x 2.5" 5.25 unit
would be perfect match for a firmtek 1v4 4 disk stripe!
the fastest possible speed for g4;)

is there a proper faceplate for a g4 sawtooth to accomodate a full size 3.5" front plate.. right now i have nothing under the cd i had a drive there but i removed it. so far my sawtooth has the faceplate for a iomega zip drive.. oh ya i actually ptu the zipdrive back in. but id way rather have a 2 x hard drive slot like this

especially considering these Sil3112 cards + most firmtek cards are supposed to support hotswap while the computer is on
(not your boot drive tho obviously hehehe)

would be pretty cool to have a usb cdrom and instead use your 5.25 + 3.5" slots for both these types of bays that would be 6 drives u could put in your system, would take a 1v4 + a 1s2 tho to pull it off

Sorry. May be my bad english, but I don't understand what the problem is ...
In the MDD upper and lower 5.25 bay you can put whatever you want.
So ... the problem are the doors ( the mirrored ones ) ?

I have one similar to this:

... but I have never tried to install it ...

yes the mirrored outer edge bezel is in the way to use a full 5.25"
i was wondering if theres a way to remove to expose the square outline instead of this rounded bezel

i just found this pic..
so it must be possible
but question is.. do i have to dissassemble the entire case to remvoe this front bezel?

ok i seee the latches..
