unable to create a dae deck
« on: Today at 09:15:20 AM »

I'm getting an error message saying "dae memory is running low, please try to increase dae preferred size," followed by "unable to create a dae deck." When I click OK, the program crashes. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

This is usually a classic Mac OS memory allocation issue, not actual RAM being “full”.

Try this:

Quit Pro Tools.
In Finder, open the DAE Folder.
Click the DAE application once.
Press Command–I / Get Info.
In the Memory section, increase Preferred Size.

For a 16 MB machine, try something like:

DAE Preferred Size: 12000–14000 K
Minimum Size: leave lower, e.g. 8000–10000 K

Then reboot and launch Pro Tools again.

Also check:

Make sure Virtual Memory is OFF in the Memory control panel.
Close all unnecessary apps.
Use a lean Mac OS extension set.
Trash Pro Tools / DAE preferences if it still crashes.
If the machine only has 16 MB RAM, that is very tight. More RAM would help a lot, especially for Pro Tools + DAE.

The important part is: increase the memory allocation of DAE, not just Pro Tools.
