Failure to Connect
« on: March 27, 2026, 12:03:31 PM »

Unable to access the Forum, MacGarden or System7Today, in usual fashion — OR via several other “also tested” browsers… for the last several weeks. Browsers simply time out. DieHard reported same situation a week or so ago.

However… THIS connection, login and post was possible via an LTE network over an iPhone.

I do wonder if this might be the result of possible recent efforts to curtail bots and AI scrapers access, via some sort of implemented solution(s) aimed at those concerns. AND if that is indeed the case, how many others might also now be prevented from accessing the Forum due to that?

No Forum access, can’t report it.  ;)

Our hosting ISP banned a lot of US subnets. After the recent US "excursion" into the middle east (which we wont discuss in this forum) there's been a huge increase in the traffic from these subnets. It seems to have calmed now and ban has been lifted.

Unfortunately out of my control, but we'll get through these rough times and everything will hopefully brighten a bit.

I think this is what is called "collateral damage".
BTW, I'm back today for the first time in a week or so.
On behalf of my fellow Americans, I'd like to extend a formal apology……… again.  :-\

I'm not in US, but I wasn't able to connect to forum 90% of the time :(

Edit. Make that 98%

Well, all is well now at least. I've flagged us to be excluded from being affected by banned subnets, so all should be well and hopefully wont happen again :)

Fingers crossed. My last successful connection was on 2nd of April. Eight days of blackout.

When I post now I get redirected to a blank page. I'm on the latest Safari for macOS.

I'm experiencing some issues as well after moving from the CloudFlare proxy. I'll investigate the upcoming days.
