Hello from the scenic USA Midwest
« on: July 19, 2025, 07:48:08 PM »

Good day folks!

I've had an account on here for a bit but it's only recently until I got a more stable Pismo to post from. I had some iMac G3s a bit ago but the PSU died on the more functional one recently, very sad... I'm no electrician, so I gave them to a guy at the Southwest Vintage Computer Festival (VCF) not too long ago. (Got a nice PCMCIA wi-fi card in return!)

How did you get into vintage computing in 2025? Or perhaps you never dropped certain systems like the rest of the world? ;) I had a good deal of experience with PPC Macs in my childhood so I'll admit I'm pretty nostalgic for them.

I'm so into retro computing as of late, that I have website that you can connect to over HTTP for your older systems - it's my username plus a "dot com." Do you have a site? I'd like to check it out! (I also have a tutorial on my site for my method of hosting if you're looking to make your site available to more vintage computers!)

Peace + !

Good day.

I too am from the midwest USA, Minnesota to be more precise. Overall it is a good area for vintage Macs, Macs have always been popular and folks around here tend to never throw thing away. A friend of mine still uses his Pismo. Like many he (and I) rely on a phone or tablet for many of the daily chores we need to get done leaving the old kit as something to just enjoy and have fun on.
