isn't OS9 weird at times?
« on: December 29, 2024, 10:05:38 AM »

 ;D

something strange today: I had a few MP3 files (imported from iTunes/OSX)  Audion could play but not Soundjam, no way to put them in a playlist or open them directly  :o I tried the change creator trick with FileTyper => no improvement. Then I noticed there was something weird with the tag editor in Audion, impossible to edit and save !!  ???

Then I used the tag tool from MP3 Rage and ...drums rolling... the MP3s can now be played with Soundjam, Audion and all them others.

Not a fascinating story but occasional guesswork is part of the fun :)

They will only read ID3v1 and 1.1 tags. Anything newer confuses the hell out of most players on OS9. I have the same problem myself. Good thing that you found a solution :)

I guess the lesson learned from this is that it's best to import discs with the very programs (Audion, Soundjam MP, ..) that you intend to use them with. :-)

You're right, however I didn't have the original discs, those MP3s were files saved from Youtube videos then converted to audio in MacOS (Mojave and Sonoma) so...
Looks like MP3 Rage erased the problematic data and wrote tags OS9 could handle. Nice piece of software -I don't remember using it back in the days- it has lots of tools/features

Very nice! It's workarounds like these I love to learn about here :-) there's virtually a solution to nearly every problem, you just need patience and/or a little creativity. :-)
