Please show me your recommended wave editor.

I have Spectrafoo, SoundEdit and SoundMaker.

I want to change the 24bit to 16bit wave files.

Why would you need 16 bits in this day and age, especially in OSX? Burning CDs?

I see, if I burn 24-bit to a CD on OSX and then load it into iTunes on OS9, it becomes 16-bit. I was such an idiot. Thanks for your opinion.

do you chose the 16/44.1 medium CD-R because you like the sound or why dont you use a usb-stick for the transfer or wifi or or or

my dad records his spotify playlist to a Tascam CD-RW900SX for listening in the car

mixtapes rule (and mix-dats and mix-MDs) but i never quite got the mix-cd thing. as good as it gets, i guess.

Thanks for your reply! I installed Peak. It's very simple and easy to use. I like it. If I'm just converting, a light app like Peak is better.

Thanks for your reply. I like mixed CDs too. I also liked cassette tapes for a while. Back in the day, we did one-take recordings on DAT!

I chose 16 44.1 because 24-bit DAWs are heavy. Especially for Logic 5.

i dont know my 16-track Logic IIfx rig would have problems with 24bit audio, not a G4?

It may be written in Japanese. At least it is on my Mac. It runs on OS 9.2.2.

You can apply effects. It supports aiff, wave, next sun, pcm, system 7, snd and mp3.

On my G4, Logic 5, at 16bit 44.1kHz the Disk I/O is 2%. At 24bit it goes up to 60%.

Thank you! I never thought I will see a full installer of this one.
The version is 3.2.6, by the way, and, as strange as it might sound, I have all the updates for it starting from 3.2.7 up to version 3.3.3. See below.

Unfortunately, for the rest of us, all the text and menus are in Japanese. English edition appeared around version 7.x.x, if I'm not mistaken. If we want v3 in English, it calls for translation and ResEdit job. I can do ResEdit, but I can't translate..


O.T. Do you have any of versions 6 or 7 around? I have SoundIt! 8 Pro, but I find it a bit buggy.

Internet, the company that released SoundIt, also released a DAW called Singer Song Writer. Prices start at around $50.

On OSX (PPC?), if it's more than one file, instead of using wave editor, I would recommend using any of the batch processors with proper dithering applied. Barbabatch is a good all-rounder. Another very good one is Saracon.

Are versions 6, 7, and 8 for OSX?

Yes, although I don't remember which one of those was PPC compatible. Version 8 is for 10.9 and up.
