This may be a dumb question… Did you install the GeeThree driver extension?

ya dragged to system folder - version 1.03 i think it said -  maybe i need a diff version???
its macos 9.2, sawtooth g4 450mhz with a digi 001  + pci sata + ati radeon 8500 graphics i think
its also got an audiophile usb from m-audio, and a mpd 16 from akai, connected via  USB and an opcode Studio 4 midi interface connected to the stealth port which is wired to the original modem port location.

just chekced the version on teh url posted by you above it says 1.02..
i downloaded my extension from the geethree.com website (web archive backup)

nothing wrong with trying extension 1.02 instead of 1.03 i guess ill start with that

well i ended up switching drives to a new SSD so i never found out the reason why it was greyed out.. because it all of a sudden just started working.. maybe it was a loose connection? i have no clue.. id love to knowthe definitive answer on what could be the cause of that symptom tho!!!!
if anyone has any insight to offer please do

i dont think it was any type of extension conflict??? maybe because localtalk was on or off?
