In dire need of some drums... Help!
« on: May 25, 2024, 08:50:33 AM »

I need some nice drum plugins (VSTi) for my setup (Logic 6.5 on OS9). Looking for some recommendations.

mainly depends on the style of music - and in OS9 they are all basically/mainly samplebased.

the flagships are probably battery, LM4 II and attack but you must see if you like the content.

the fxpansion 008 has an AD pitch envelope useful for trance and electro.

there is no "professional" acoustic kit for OS9.

isnt drums it a pain in logic? or does 6.5 had finally multiout for VST?

There are 2 acústics drums on my logic sample collection , real megadrum 2 and acoustic drums, aside more sounds. Now EXS is a tool inside Protools. You dont need logic to arrange drums.

Stylus...before DMX, and my favourite is playing a loop thru the Ohm boyz collection as filter.
You can use Access Virus and ES1 as filtros too.

Reason as drum kit is cool.

There was another drum machine from Steinberg with dials or Wizoo that was handy too.

I would look for more maybe sampletank Halion  or the natives for protools, samplecell.
EXS 24 is king in my opinion. You can import the library UP to Intel era and files were compatible.

Let's also remember "Groove Agent" which is the best "AI" drum plugin for OS 9; it will play along in sync with the tempo (just pick your style and era); it is an excellent way to get ideas and beats.  Then you can craft a MIDI track and use EXS
