Searching for the Mac OS 9 drivers for my new "Perfection 4870 Photo" Scanner – by the way; the last one that officially was supported by Epson for Mac OS 9 – I had to learn that the European website in fact is still offering Mac OS 7.6 to 9.2 as a selectable option regarding their drivers, but the URLs changed and downloads for our OS lead to 404s.
So by simple URL altering I found out, that Epson has a structure of continuous numbering, quite "FTP like" where tons of software are availaible. There are documents, drivers, commercials, and endless of .hqx and .sit files as well. It may be that it is everything Epson ever produced!? Have a look fo yourselve.
So if you need some driver for Mac OS 9 or documents for any Epson product, have a look at the name at support pages, and afterwards look at the following URL inside the according subfolders!
https://download.epson-europe.com/pub/download/Mine was "epson22395eu.sit" in the subfolder 224 not 223 like it should be
But at least it is ordered. Only drawback, you have to know the exact name of the file that you are searching, or you need the support pages to find out. Once they are gone – the option to select Mac OS 7.6 - 9.2 as driver option at the support pages – it will become quite harder to find something according to our peripherials and know, which software is for which product, …
