Gigabyte 8500 - does it make sense?
« on: March 17, 2020, 05:37:58 PM »

Hi,

I see this one on fee-bay:

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Gigabyte-Maya-GV-AP64D-H-ATI-Radeon-8500-275-275-MHz-AGP-64MB/254541653348

Does it make sense?

I have a few 9000-s and one 9000Pro. One more OK video card won't hurt - but my focus is on the storage, all I need from video card is a good resolution under both "9" and "X" (the higher, the better) and acceptable 2D speed.

Won't be much of an upgrade over a R9000 Pro, sideways move.

Also may require ROM edits, and/or soldering a larger EEPROM.

Thanks - being the Crowned Tsar of All Russia 🦇👑😷🤒 not in my condition right now than.
I have only one 9000 Pro, other 2-3 cards are 9000.

Both are fine, finding a 9000 does not seem to be a tough job and right now I do not have access to all my home-labs across different countries.
In the fact, I have limited access even to a grocery store nearby, so it certainly can wait.
