Hi everyone, so I have a new quiet 80x80x25mm PSU fan and wondered if anyone has any tutorials they know of to navigate this.  I'm sure I could fumble through it, but I'd rather arm myself with some knowledge before I go in.

Important things I want be sure about too is that the fan's air flow is going the right direction.

I have an NB-Multivframe Ultra Silent Fan

I have swapped a lots of fan's also once in a QS. You have to ensure that the new fan has the same amount of Airflow as the old one. The direction is always printed on the fan, just look for the small arrow on it.

And you could also remove the metal finger grill whit a Dremel or something like that. The G3 and G4 series all have separate plastic grill behind the metal grill. The two grills behind each other making a sissing noise.

I like the fans from Noctua.

Ok thanks!  I'll do that.   I went with one of the NB Multiframe fans. That came from someone here in the forum so I'm sure it's a solid suggestion.

That's definitely good to know about the grill.  It's not LOUD but man in my studio with the SSD in there, the fan is definitely by far the loudest thing in the studio now..

Don't forget the other 2 fans in the QS, They also make some irritating noise. And don't use screws, use rubber, like these:  https://www.amazon.de/Sharplace-Anti-Vibrations-Halterung-Schrauben-PC-L%C3%BCfter-Schwarz/dp/B07CSRWF8C

thanks yea that's the kind of screws that came with this fan, but as for the others.. i'll need to investigate them as well.. i know it will never be noiseless but even just cutting down some is great..

However while we're on the subject, does anyone have any suggestions for better fans for the other two?   The fan I have i believe is the one that goes with the CPU..

Just found this: http://www.thorburn.se/henrik/quicksilver/index.html

Well it depend on the hardware inside the G4. If you have some Dual G4 (like me a Dual 1.6 Ghz :D ) than you need good cooling and that makes more noise. But when you have a 733 or something like that, you could also reduce the Voltage to 7V instead of 12V.

For some fans look here: https://noctua.at/de/products/fan

The big one is 120MM, there cou could install the NF-P12 Redux, i would go for the 1200 or 1300 an maybe lower the voltage.  I cant rember the size of the small CPU fan in the QS.  Just googled it: It is a 60mm fan. So maybe the NF-A6X25 FLX? Than one has an adapter to lower the voltage. https://noctua.at/en/products/fan/nf-a6x25-flx/specification.

But when making such kind of modification, always look at the temperature of your hardware. Measure it whit infrared thermometer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrared_thermometer. If the hardware getting to hot, you have to increase the voltage of the fans for better cooling. Also replace thermal grease of the CPU.

I have a 867mhz model.  That is perfect!  Thank you for finding this!

I'm going to probably stop with the one fan i have right now..  evaluate how much sound it really helped with.

It does seem like the big 120mm one would be the biggest source of sound but yea i'm going to see if i feel like the $18 paid for this fan makes a significant difference.  If I can tell and the other mods are not too bad to get to them I'll possibly dig deeper.
