3xHD and 3xos9 ?
« on: October 13, 2015, 12:43:07 PM »

A am sooo new to Mac  :'(
A install 9.2.2 on a blank hd in my grey desktop G3 , then i mounted another hd from my Blue/white G3 to the CD ide cable on grey G3.
Then i moved a Protools DAW partition to a partition on my grey G3 hd from another hd
Then my daws complained of files from another drive.
Ok,, i installed that scsi-hd and scsicard 3940.
I needed stuffit  I found that on another hd  ::)
So after scsi installation my protools DAW and plugins find the files and work.
Now i must use 3hd with 4-7 systemmaps 8.5-9.21-9.22 to get it all to work  :-[

Is there a way to copy all programs/system funktions to my single hd with 3 partitions  :o
Thanks 9Dsp

i dont fully get the question, but normally you can just move and copy files around.

the majority of classic mac apps do not have large amounts of vitamines in /application support or similar shit locations like in unix or windows.

if you copy applications folders from one to another computer they normally still work.
the only things they might need are in the system extensions folder, which you can also just merge from one to another machine.

ah now i read it again.

well yes, you should be able to just copy the whole system folders from the old HDs to the new computer (as long as you dont put 2 systemfolders on the same partition, because then you cant choose between them.)

OS9 boots from the /trash archive of an USB 1 stick - and also when you rename the system folder to "adolf hitler". it is identified as bootable system by the computer by only a few files such as the system suitcase, the system file, and the finder program.

about your protools files: protools sessions or cubase songs audio files can be refound automaticallay when the path changed on the next startup of that session. it will search the whole HD for the first missing file, then finds the rest checking the relative path first before searching again.
