Whats the best and most compatible ssd drive out there today ?

I have two 120 GB Samsung 840 SSDs, perfectly working on Mac Os 9. One of them is 840 EVO and it is faster than the other one ("non EVO").

what about the size? i understand the bot disk needs to be smaller. is there interest in bigger ssd drives ?

I just got 2 60's to use for boot drives on a QS and MDD ... also a 120 for a PowerBook from OWC.

The big HD size (over 128GB) topic was discussed a lot of times.

... and Yes you can use up to a 2TB SSD on a SATA bus and boot with it in Mac Os 9.

but this can bring some issues as DieHard have showed us in a lot of occasions. This issues are minor with SSDs, because defragmentation it isn't so necessary as in old HDs and if you don't mount this SSD in Mac Os X the disk errors are absent or are really scarce.

im not worried about the 2tb limits just the demand. i never had the desire to get one or even look at it and now its all over the place. like i said the boot part is clear but lets say audio is very demanding and you need some storage would a 512gb or more than one usable for that kind of setup ?

Im using KingSpec PATA SSD's in my machines with great success. A lot of performance for the money

The almost instant access time is achieved independently of the interface used,
so my next advice is:

connect it as you can!

but in any case SSDs provide a really high benefit !

if u arent using SSD by now...... WTF??   

my first SSD i bought was by "OCZ" and it was called A "VERTEX" i think
then i got the "VERTEX2"
and then i got one called "AGILITY" also by OCZ
then i bought some by corsair "F60" (not so great dont buy those)
then i bought 1 by kingston
the kingston ones are good + cheap.. i have one in my XP laptop right now and its working fantastic.
the samsung ones do not buy past 840. we have seen proof that the 850 is incompatible with
sata1 controllers.
if u have a problem its probably because u are using a sataIII (600)device that cannot 'clockdown' to be compatible with sataI speed (150)
