Trying to copy my OS9 Drive, fail, fail, fail
« on: June 22, 2015, 10:35:50 PM »

Trying to copy 9.2.2 with pro tools  5.1.3 on a 5400 drive to a 7200 drive that is a bit larger.

Doing the usual drag the main drive Icon to the target drive Icon trick, then drag all the files out of the folder to the root like I have done before, but this drive wont post, just get the folder with the flashing question mark.

I cant figure out what is going wrong?

I think I found my problem, I copied to a drive that I had in my fire wire caddy. The drive boots to OS 9.2.2 fine while it is in the caddy, but If I put the same drive in the G4 I get the flashing ????? over the floppy disc image when I try to boot, so I guess the drive is some how rooted to the fire wire chassis? Not sure how to by pass this problem yet :-/

if you created a system folder by copying, it might not yet be blessed.

to bless a system folder it is normally enough to just open it once in the finder.

(also make sure you have OS9 drivers on the disk)

probably jumpers  and or position on the ATA master/slave cable..
the outward (end) port is the master port.. the middle one is the slave port..
be sure to set the jumpers on the drive properly to either slave or master and connect to the corresponding port on the ata ribbon cable

none of that matters when its connected via firewire
