im trying to find something similar to this that would allow me to mount a few drives vertically stacked on top of one another with a bit more space to allow airflow over and inbetween the drives

i have 4 500gb 7200rpm ide drives.. that i wanna hook up to this acard raid controller..

im thinking the quicksilver might give me enough room to do this in under the cd .. as its wide open space on this model compared to the mdd

thinkijng of literally just sitting it inside the machine

as u can see this ones got space for what looks like a 120mm fan

maybe something like this

or this

this one looks good! but oops its for 2.5" drives

i also remember having the idea of replacing just 1 of the cd drives with a 5.25 bay like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vantec-EZ-Swap-F4-MRK-425ST-BK-4-Bay-2-5-SATA-6Gb-s-SSD-HDD-Removable-Rack-SAT-/301380760063

and using 4 x 2.5" sata laptop drives

that could work really well in the mdd combined with a http://www.firmtek.com/seritek/seritek-1v4/

noone answered me if its possible to completely remove the mirror door flap to expose the front of this, or another 5.25 bay

i like that the drive bay seems to have its own built in fan cooling

feeling the bottom of the case of my quicksilver it is cool to the touch..
perhaps thats why they designed it this way to have the drives on the bottom and the air intake vents on the bottom o the case... it is in contact with the aluminum case inside.. or metal whatever it is... maybe it is just best if i mount the drives as it was designed .. i dont think id have the clearance now actually looking at it.. the power switch module takes up more space then i realized and there isnt much room when u look at where the pci cards end up with th case closed.. dammit

the g5 jive could have worked

they are probably long gone by now tho

That's a pretty fancy card you got there Chris!! ;D ...Is it missing an electrolytic cap or was it just a 'decoy' on the circuit board? ;D

Seems to me I had 5 drives in my G4 400 at one point...2 were in the SCSI bays and one in the Zip drive area...I think velcro was involved too!! haha! Made the G4 SURPRISINGLY heavy... to the point where I would say a 'bad words' whenever I had to lift it up!!!! The SCSI drives were pretty small though...9gig...something like that.
