further startup optimisation
« on: September 05, 2014, 11:41:29 AM »

we know 4 tricks how to speed up startup:

 - use the startup doubler extension
 - use a fast(er) drive, for example a SSD with only OS9 on it
 - have a small and clean partition as boot partition
 - dont put too many items in the apple menu or use an alternative menu

there is one more little trick to save another 3 seconds:

open the memory controlpanel while holding command and alt. this brings up a new option which lets you turn off the RAM test, which is by default on.

hint: dont forget that you once did this, and dont do it on other peoples machines. :)
