its gotta be because its a 9600..
im unfamilar with all the nuances of any mac beige tower g3 or otherwise
so i wouldnt know.

but i can tell u i havent got that message once on any of my macs
and u know i have b&w g3 450, g4 sawtooth 450, qs 933, mdd 867, mdd 1.25
i even had a few more b&w g3s, 350 + 400mhz but i gutted them thinking they were
too ancient to be of any use and made one of them into a hackintosh
and the other is still just sitting here an empty case...
i feel guilty for murdering it lol

I figured out that what dictates if the floppy icon shows up or not is which port on the SATA card that my boot drive is plugged into. When it shows as ID0, I get the disk icon. When I plug it into the other port and it shows up as ID2, it goes away.

The shutdown error message still persists so I'm just gonna turn it off completely. Hopefully one day someone else will report their findings with a 9600.
