Yes, works great on Mac OS 9...
http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php/topic,1097.0.html

From the download page...
Quote
NOTES/INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download all 7 CD Image files
2. "Remove Mac Binary Encoding" on all 6 Toast CD Image files with StuffIt (Simply double click each toast file or Open StuffIt and use Menu)
3. Mount all CD-ROM toast images using Toast (Utilities/Mount Disk Image) or Burn 6 CDs
4. Use Virtual PC for Mac or a Real PC to run the "Keygen.exe" (.EXE files obviously DO NOT run under Mac OS 9)
5. Type the "Challenge Code" into the Keygen program to Get the "Response Code"
6. use the "Response Code" to authorize

As mentioned in DieHard's post, You would need to use the keygen on a windows machine first and use that information onto a mac in order to get it working on OS9.

yes I downloaded keygen from pc.. it doesn't open with pc, I also tried to download it several times.. it's not a compressed file it's directly .exe. Do I lose information when downloading it? you download it and can you open it? or tried on different PCs and it doesn't work.. in addition to downloading and opening it, do I have to do something or am I doing something wrong? let me know, thanks  :)

The keygen downloads as .exe file, but in reality it is an archive! Just rename it to .zip, decompress and you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the reply. I solved it with keygen by applying the .bin extension instead of exe., but I have another problem the plugin gives me a 10-character code to apply to the keygen which gives me a number but it doesn't work. in the download text it says that the keygen does not work with serial numbers more than 9...how do I fix it? Am I the only one that plussound gives me 10 serial numbers?

If challenge number is over 9 digits, the PC KeyGen doesn't work, the KeyGen response number must be "manually" typed, not Copy/Pasted

yes exactly... as I wrote above " in the text of the download ( the link you wrote ) if higher than 9 it doesn't work .. " so? I have no alternative to authorize it? all you mac users did PlugSound give you 9 characters? does it depend on something in particular that on my mac it gives 10? can i change that number to make keygen work? let me know, thanks

OK, if you get really hung up on the auth, you can use the "Plugsound Free" version as a permanent version in this manner...

From a previous post...
Quote
Another approach if you want to use multiple Plugsound libraries (and you are not familiar with resedit):
This method only requires copying and renaming files...

The following example is for Cubase VST with the keyboard library:

1. First download Plusound Free Version and unstuff
2. Mount the CD in toast of the Plugsound library you want
3. Copy the PS01 - Keyboards.dat (or whatever dat) file off the mounted CD image to the hard drive
4. in Cubase under VST Plugins create a folder
        Plugsound - Keyboards (PS01)
5. Copy the Plugsound free VST Plugin following into the folder, Hold the alt key so that you get a copy, since you will need to have an addition copy for each library
6. Rename the Plugsound Free VST plugin to Keyboards - Plugsound PS01 This gives it a unique name in the Cubase Instrument menu
7. Copy the PS01 - Keyboards.dat file into the same folder
8. Create an Alias of the PS01 - Keyboards.dat file by hitting CMD-M
9. Rename the alias to Plugsoud Free.dat and leave it in the same folder

So to summarize you will have a unique folder (for each plugsound sample pack) under VSTplugins that contains:
     - The renamed Plugsound Free VST Plugin (so that you recognize the library as unique in Cubase when you load it)
     - The Dat file
     - An alias to the dat file that is renamed to Plugsound  Free.dat

Special Note: in the case of the Plugsound free library, you can rename the dat file (to Plugsound Free 1.dat) so that the alias and filename are different

the "rename" part needs clarification as not everyone knows that by heart.

to make a VST show up with another name, you have to open it with resedit and change the name of the aEff resource. you can do so by selecting it and then open the command-I for this resource.

if you play around with this, be aware that this is the name projects of host programs find their plugins back, so if you rename "prophet" to "bubu" your old projects will no longer work and you will no longer be compatible with other people.

for the same reason you should make sure to exactly type "Keyboards - Plugsound PS01" like noted above for the PS-free-hack.

No my method needs NO resedit.  As stated, This method only requires copying and renaming files...You do NOT have to make the VST show up with a different name.  My method makes the "free" version think it's playing the "free" sample pack, when it is playing the real thing, it works as advertised :)

A am assuming it is a fresh install so the loading of old products need not apply.  Once you do this all projects created will reload fine

i know that you dont need to do it, but it said they would show up as such.

if you want them to show up differently, renaming the files is not enough. :)

renaming the plug-in IDs can be useful if you want to install different versions. i once did this with waveshell and orange vocoder 1.5

I report here my latest discoveries hoping they will help someone.. I tried them with Charlie and Plugsound
I wondered what was generating the serial number. my MDD produces 10...uhm..I thought these plugs are
really old so i tried to use an old powermac agp and..wow!
9 characters. I managed to authorize everything with ease. i took my hd mounted on mdd and mounted it on the old agp and
I authorized everything successfully with the same numbers.. put HD back on MDD unfortunately it doesn't work..
the serial is generated and linked to the computer.
what the plug will read during installation is a mystery...
it would be nice to be able to modify these to be able to authorize all computers..

I wanted a small reverse engineering challenge and had a look at one of the plugins.
The challenge / response algorithm seems pretty simple.

I'm not an audio guy but I managed to load the plugin. I only get a 9-digit challenge...
Can you send me your 10-digit challenge for Plugsound 1 Keyboards.
If my generated response works, I will make a new KeyGen for these plugins.
