it is always hard to tell if something is 150, 300, or 600 SATA ... recently i was completely lost to terminate a SATA II disk for a SATA I controller, because i didnt know what model the HD was, since the dealer sent us a wrong one ...

sata doesnt require termination. i think u are confusing SAS or SCSI

if you want to connect a SATA 300 disk to an SATA 150 controller you have to set jumpers for enabling this mode.

if you dont do it, you can almost forget using the HD, it will fail on reading long files.

[supernova777]

are u sure about that because i have bene using sata3 disks on a sata150 pci card and ive had no problems with files..?

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/271766-32-sata-backwards-compatible-sata

All sata is backward compatible. Some disks have jumpers to force a slower speed in case the auto speed detection isn't working properly on the controller.

perhaps your controller is at fault? if u had a problem?
