How to connect wirelessly using mac g4 airport card
« on: May 30, 2014, 03:49:10 PM »

hi there guys;)
i have a friend who has no wired internet in his home and hes just got a quicksilver 933 /w airport card
i was wondering if anyone could run down the particulars involved in establishing a proper wireless connection
with his router...

off the top of my head i believe this may require an older router that is capable of being put into 802.11"B" mode rather then "G" or "N" .. correct?

G and N are backwards compatible, so it would work anyway. What he needs to do is using a WEP-password to protect the network, since it's the only encryption supported under OS9. If he uses OSX he can use WPA as well.

Other than that, it's the usual stuff :)

Same machine, same problem. WPA2 doesn't work in OS9.
But isn't browsing on a Quicksilver/OS9 terribly slow? I've tried Classila....

ok so downgrading the encryption to WEP should allow it to connect?
can anyone else confirm?
