Pretty sure that you brought the IDE version to my attention also... just making sure the new kids know that the IDE version does exist incase they need one for a laptop upgrade. ;D ;D ;D

Yes... Great Point :)

The old Powerbooks fly with these SSDs

See my post about the mSata + Adapter in my powerbook. Running great, 250Gigs for ~$120. There's cheaper mSata's out there, too.
That said, I might have bought the OWC one if I had remembered it.

Hi everyone,
Sorry for this very basic question but would a kingston 32gb SSD and Mahattan SATA to IDE bridge work? ( I have a  MDD 1.25.)

I live in South Africa and the OWC stuff is hard to get hold of here.

Thanks so much. Nick

From the Photo, the Mahattan has a Master/Slave/Cable Select jumper so it should work 100%

i have a similar SATA-PATA adapter but mine has some capacitors on the backside that tend to get squished once u close the door of the mdd if its in the front cradle
maybe i need to order some kingwin.. these ones dont seem to have the same physical obstacles

Yeah it looks a bit questionable. Im leaning slightly towards these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Industrial-Disk-on-Module-Kingspec-PATA-IDE-40PIN-DOM-16GB-Vertical-Socket-MLC-/191136090482?epid=1839441186&hash=item2c80994972:g:YsoAAMXQNo5TaNh2

only problem is that these are female IDE and have to be inserted right into the PATA port in the PowerMac G4 (MDD?)
would be alot better if they came as mountable ide drives that can be connected via Ribbon? so they dont take up both positions on the master/slave IDE connection

The 'industrial' attribute suggests they are supposed to be mounted in low profile rack cases.
I have a couple of those (1G) in SLC format and they are very reliable, one boots my OS9 Pro Tools TDM and has 400 MB free.
To use both master/slave positions you can make a custom cable by pressing 2 female connectors on a regular ribbon cable and cut off the original connectors. Needs a wrench but isn't too difficult.

the "Trick" i observe above by diehard is simply to use a Sata/pata adapter in combination with a 2.5" drive Which gives you the
extra 1 inch or so neccessary to clear the ide cables protruding from the motherboard of the mdd

Nope. The 120 GB was $128.00 back in June of this year.
Might be "round 'em up, close-out pricing".
(As in: get 'em before they're gone.)
