Mac OS 9 Lives admin "Knezzen" has released yet another software update, this time for the Hotline Connect client HotStuff.

The updated version consists of mostly bug fixes targeted at the 68k platform, but one new feature has snuck in as well. You're now able to use additional icons loaded through an icon file, so there's no need to use ResEdit on HotStuff's own resource file anymore. The awesome "BadMoon" icon package is now included in the HotStuff archive as well.

HotStuff is avaliable in FAT (68k & PowerPC PEF) and Carbon builds, but we hear rumors of a native Intel OSX build in the making as well. Go get it while it's Hot (Stuff) over at The Macintosh Garden!

I guess you're familiar with Apples old Sherlock 2 platform; the built in search application that made Mac OS 9 "The Best Internet Operating System Ever". Sadly, it got killed off by Apple in 2005 and have since rested more or less peacefully. That is until three years ago when fellow Mac OS 9 Lives admin "Knezzen" started tinkering with it, revitalized the banner code and made some new plugins for it. He recently updated the existing plugins and made some new ones. Even the Mac OS 9.0.4 version of Sherlock 2 is now working again.

Wallops is a light-weight IRC client with an emphasis on compatibility. It runs on Macs where ShadowIRC or Ircle won't, namely oldies like a Mac Plus. It does, however, also run fine on Mac OS 9 machines. Version 2.0 now comes with a lot of changes, including (finally!) resizable windows, tabs and additional commands. Find the full changelog and download at the author's website.

Edit. Version 2.1 has since been released, containing a couple of bugfixes and enhancements.
