Hello Everyone,
During the 1990’s I would use computer software to  enhance the curricular objectives of my classroom. I found some of the games I used in class, but more importantly I found the games I played at home. Now I am trying to find a way to play these games. Almost all of these programs were for Classic Mac (OS9). I am a newbie to emulation.

I am daily machine is operates on Linux Mint, in addition I have a Mac Mini (Late 2012) that I can reinstall a Mac OS to use. I am just learning to use the Terminal in Linux.

I want to use an emulation  on either my main machine or the Mac Mini to play the games. Does anyone have a recommendation of what programs, methods, or useful tips that would help me in this endeavor.

I have started my research on emulators and/or virtual machines. I have ruled out Sosumi. I have discovered UTM and will research UTM vs QEMU vs SheepShaver. My overall goal is to find the easiest way to install OS9 unto Linux, Mac (intel), or windows.

I will keep making updates.

On a new(er) I use UTM. Their website provides images for both 9.1 and 8. The images are just plain QEMU files and can be used with any QEMU setup on Linux. On Linux I use Gnome Boxes for its easy QEMU setup and use.

I will explore your advice tomorrow. I was planning to reinstall The initial Mac OS onto the Mac Mini (late 2012) and learn about gnome during that process.

Good morning,
I hope everyone had a good weekend and wish you a productive week. For me this weekend as a learning experience, which was good. Thank you for your assistance.

I reinstalled Lion on the 2012 Mac Mini using the mac restore process, but it was not functional. So I tried to install Catalina using “Ventoy” flash drive method, but it was not successful. I tried again using the more typical boot drive method, used the wrong keys, and started the restore process and then Catalina appeared as the last system. I made 2 partitions on the drive and installed Catalina in one partition and Linux in the other. Later I replaced Catalina with Windows (local account).

I most importantly learned that there are 2 “Mac on Linux “ sites. One is for PCC Macs to run Linux and the other is for Mac to run on Linux. I also discovered that Catalina doesn’t support UTM and that I why I replaced it. The reason I installed Windows because it seems the UTM process may be more graphical than the Linux QEMU process.  I don't plan to connect the Windows partition to the internet.

Good Day,
I did a lot of research this last week and life decreased my computer time. I will be trying to use SheepShaver as emulator to run OS9 on Catalina. I re-installed Catalina making sure to find the correct partition. I forgot about Boot Camp. I think that using the whole hard drive to install Catalina, then using Boot Camp to reinstall Windows would have save me time. The boot option in the system preferences works, so all is well.
