Solved - PB Lombard 8.6 to 9.2 upgrade
« on: July 26, 2021, 06:44:42 PM »

Hi all!!
New project: Lombard 400. It's running OS 8.6.
I'm stumped! No CD drive, can't boot from usb, can't even read the usb stick when running os 8.6! (but you already knew that)
I've tried everything I can think of.
-Burn install iso to CF card and put in pcmcia slot with reader NOPE (doesn't see it)
-Put the CF card into Adtron SCSI PCMCIA drive with adapter NOPE, SCSI CDROM drive with installer CD? Not even! It doesn't seem to pay any mind to anything I plug in usb or scsi.

What am I missing? The only thing I haven't tried is putting into disk mode and dropping the files from one of my os9 powermacs via scsi, but with my luck that wouldn't work either.

Edit: That's exactly what I did. Lombard in scsi disk mode, connected to my QS G4, popped in the install disk to the QS. That said, I'm sure glad the lombard wasn't my first mac. I have no idea how I would have managed this without my other gear. Cheers!
