as you know.. macs can usually be freshly installed from any *LATER* OS version
but require *SPECIFIC* versions to install the *shipped* os that it originally came with
these *rare* version installers are the only way to install 8.6 or 8.5.1 on these machines...
just putting links here in an easy to find place because where they are posted elsewhere.. but buried deep in some threads.. and hard to dig up

trying to install radeon 9200 drivers from cd
so i can get my 2d accell working in os8.6
on my powermac g3 blue + white
but the radeon 9200 driver installer doesnt let you install unless you have 9.22 installed

so................
 i decided to try this "os9.22 universal install" from 2002
https://www.macintoshrepository.org/1307-mac-os-9-2-2-universal-2002-edition-
becuase im unfamiliar with it
i wanted to see which rom it puts on my b+w G3
it installed Mac OS ROM v8.7 dated from november 7th 2001

who made this cd?
i thought there was no official installer of 9.22?

i think this file is damaged or i didnt burn it the way it was created?
this cd actually rendered my b+w unable to boot!

booting back up with my 8.6 restore cd to delete the files i guess and start again

Thanks for the 8.6 media. My Sawtooth is a RevB, it came with 9. I'll set up an extra partition the next time I do drives work. Give 8.6 a try.
