XMPP/jabber server

Is the jabber server that was hosted on Macintosh.garden currently down? Is there an alternative one with tls 1.0 support that people are using?

Yeah, it's down for now. There are plans to bringing it back though, perhaps Knez will write some more.

As for alternatives, I don't know of any other than setting up your own one up if you want a crossover to modern messaging services. If you want Instant Messaging, there are some private AIM / ICQ servers around. If you're looking for some online interaction, you may want to join up our Hotline server and chat with folks like in the old days. Here is info on how to connect to it.
