waves 4.0
« on: March 05, 2014, 11:58:54 PM »

hi guys,

on macintosh garden there is a waves 4.0 package. does it work for you? the installer says only for 10.0 and manually copying folders to my drive gets me an error, waveshell can not be loaded in cubase. i tried to run the authorizer app, but that seems to be osx as well. (i get an error -30 or something) or has somebody else the waveshell + plugins for os9?

edit: i found a post here about pluggo which indicates that the waves folders have to be in a special place to load. where would that be?

I installed the pack twice last 3 months and one time it worked perfect and the last time it told me I had 15 days of use. I think there is only one way to do it right, but the instructions seem clear.

for me it's also still not clear. maybe it has something to do with the fact, that the files were removed on macintosh garden and then reuploaded? (there was a discussion about abandonware/non abandonware)

the last version of waveshell for classic was 3.2.1 and 3.4, which for some weird reason was renamed to 4.0 one day during the beta.

3.2.1 was required for the X-restoration pack and 4.0 for the linear phase eq and L2.

i can not recommend to use 4.0, because you only need it for these 2 plug-ins and they are very sluggerish GUI because they were kinda ported from carbon (and require a LOT of CPU)

also, if you mix waveshell versions, newer plug-ins can not be stored in project files of your host app. (like X-denoise would open up with waveshell 3.0 next time)

hint: if you dont like the dialog of waveshell, just hack into it using resedit and adapt the open dialog to your screen size. :)

hrhr, just looking at it closer .. it was actually three: LinMultiBand is also v3.5 (which means it requires waveshell 3.4) ...

almost impossible to run the LinMB on a sub 1GHz G4  8) buying the the native version was a total fail back in the days.
