New forum theme AGAIN?!
« on: November 02, 2024, 01:05:05 PM »

Yes indeed. We took your constructive criticism seriously and we made (well, Bolkonskij did) a forum theme that goes more hand in hand with Mac OS 9 and the new website. I hope you like it!

Of course we still have the original Mac OS 9 Lives forum theme available if you'd like to switch back to it for some reason.

Done my best to address many of your suggestions @all (like @ChrisNova if you check, the confusing next / last buttons on the bottom are gone), the colours are more toned and fit the main page, the interface got further uncluttered and most importantly, it works fine with Classilla as far as my tests go. There may be a few inaccuracies left, in fact, I'm pretty sure there's the odd margin but all in all I hope you folks will like and use it.

I assume it might be a bit too narrow if you're on a modern machine with a big resolution - the problem here really is to bridge both worlds. I'd advise using the modern browser's zoom function and set it up to 120% or whatever you like best.

Anyway, let me know if you find something that should be addressed, please.

This is much, much better than the old new one. Nice work.

How do I know which posts of a thread are new/unread?

I was surprised to come back after a few months and seeing this. There is certainly a lot of unique charm to the "2.0" theme, however this current "3.0" theme is just outright amazing: it's more platinum-looking, and more "OS-9-light-purple"-looking than the previous iteration which was more of an iMac or even early OS X look, while simultaneousy having incredibly readable, good looking forum presentation and structure. The main page is also amazing!

It's visually very communicative, more so than any previous forum theme here, and is overall very sharply designed, and implemented with incredibly good sense, be it for colors or anything else. Bravo, @Bolkonskij!

Thank you @all for the kind words. My intention was to create a page and forum theme that leans onto Mac OS 9 without merely copying it. I'm glad you make the connection and my intentions were not in vain :-)

I've been investing all these hours because I'd really love to see Mac OS 9 Lives succeed. It would be so cool to have one of these classic year 2000 style fanpages with news, articles and a forum being successful despite the social media trend.
