MacTron’s Bootable Installer / Rescue
« on: September 29, 2024, 11:21:55 AM »

Okay.  ;)

It is truly a “sleeper” download.

Here’s a final plea for “MacTron’s Bootable Rescue and Installer” CD
download, added to the files that are available directly from the Forum.

Here: https://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php?action=downloads

As one might note from the screenshots below, it is an invaluable tool
for those experiencing problems - OR simply for the scope of available
apps that it contains (all in ONE download!) including Norton Utilities 6
(for those machines only running OS 9) and even Drive Setup 2.1.

Check out the contents in the screenshots below.

In most cases, I use it more often than the Universal Installer and then
after trimming extensions, control panels etc. I’ll run Disk Doctor and
Speed Disk (both found in Norton Utilities 6) for initial “housekeeping”
on new OS 9 installations accomplished FROM the very same CD.

NOTES:

Norton 6 ONLY on dedicated OS 9 installs / dedicated partitions.
(Never on OS X - or drives un-partitioned with both OS 9 and OS X.)

There is no Drive Setup 2.1 on the Universal Installer - and while
Drive Setup 1.9.2 is… the use of DS 2.1 provides + performance.

Compare MacTron’s content with the Universal Installer…

AND if “MacTron’s Bootable Rescue and Installer” CD doesn’t get
added to the on-Forum downloads, here’s the Hotline Server path:

Good idea!
It would be great to have one boot disk that contains many useful utilities and extensions.
Just like the current image of MacOS9Lives is more than 10 years old, it's time to review its content!  8)
