Rebirth RB339 midi sync/timing issues
« on: November 01, 2024, 08:28:44 AM »

Hi,

I stumble into an midisync/timing issue with Rebirth.
Here is my setup:
MacMini running Cubase 7.5 on MacOS10.9.5 Mavericks.
Audio interface on this system: M-Audio firewire audiophile
from this audio interface I've connected Midi out

The target system:
Mac G4 MDD running MacOS9.2.2 2GB ram
Audio interface: M-audio firewire audiophile
The midi from the MacMini is connected to the Midi-in from this system.
OMS 2.3.8 is installed and working.

With midi sync set to internal I can start playing Rebirth from my midi keyboard by entering note [A3]

When I setup Cubase 7.5 to transmit midiclock and events I can start Rebirth with the start/stop buttons from Cubase.  However in this setup the Timing of Rebirth is weird. It goes out to 356bpm and cannot be changed.

When I connect my Beatstep pro 5p din midi out directly to Rebirth with the timing set to exteral. I can start/stop Rebirth from the Beatstep pro and can adjust the speed.

I'd like to control Rebirth from Cubase because I there can program my pattern changes, but it needs to be in sync with the correct timing.

Do you have any idea of how to control this weird speed problem?

regards
Marcel

fun fact: I run Reason 2.5 on that Mac MDD and use the Rebirth/rewire connection to separate the audio from the individual Rebirth instruments. This audio is routed to the 4 outputs from my M-audio firewire audiophile audio device.
