New-in-box adventure games coming to Mac OS 9

(1/1)

Bolkonskij:

--- Quote ---German publisher poly.play is going to release boxed Macintosh 68k versions of two new Interactive Fiction adventures. The games from Italian writer Marco Innocenti will be released on 3,5" floppy disks (and a MicroSD with the disk image for emulator owners) and include a sticker, a manual, a poster, and "feelies" (whatever that will be). If past experience with poly.play releases is any indication, the games will run fine from a Mac Plus and System 6 up to a high-end G4 MDD sporting OS 9.

Both new games, "A1RLØCK" and "THE RUIN OF ØCEANUS PR1ME" are 35 euros excluding shipping from Germany, currrent release date is October 2024. Pre-orders are taken.

Posted this as news on M9L's home page - does somebody find this interesting, either because they're collecting boxed Mac stuff or because they like the idea of ripping open a new boxed Macintosh game and playing it like it's 1986 again? :-)

I've bought both The Queen's Footsteps and Silk Dust before from poly.play. Both of them came in nice packaging with good materials, though none of them were required to finish the game (thinking about Infocom games here :-) )

I finished the Queen's Footsteps and liked it much, still waiting to find the time to finish Silk Dust. Both are from the same author and play in a steampunk-style 1900s world. The two new games are from another author (Marco Innocenti) and seem to be more into horror and moral dilemmas, not sure if that's my cup of tea. But part of enjoying well-written IF-adventures is definitely getting them in a nicely packaged box with a manual and other materials.

Somebody else finding this interesting?

Yes! It's wonderful news. Big box games are awesome, but I only have a few for the Mac. I need more ;)
