Any tips for moving files from Oculus VR to a Mac?
« on: July 19, 2024, 05:53:36 AM »

I'm having trouble transferring files from my Oculus VR headset to my Mac. When I connect them via USB, the files on my Oculus don’t show up on my Mac. I’ve tried different cables and ports without success.

What is the correct way to do that?

I found this guide: https://www.macdroid.app/connect-oculus-to-mac/

Will it work?

Hi Rebelone,

Thanks for the link that confirmed my suspicion of Android being used on the Quest.

The answer to your question is: no, you won't be able to copy files to your OS 9 mac (AFAIK there is no application implementing the file transfer protocol used in Android).

You can do some transfer with Android on OS X and a PPC Mac using AndroidTransfer that is an early attempt to provide a way to copy onto and off from. The application is still rough around the edges and basic but it is better than nothing.

Careful that it will require Android to be in the right file-transfer mode to work. If you have access to these settings on the Quest, you could also use the MTP mode (pretending to be a digital camera: it is a lot more supported but is limited in what type of files you can transfer and specific locations one the Quest).
