apparently this card will allow you to use fw800 devices on mac os 9..

i have a fw800 external western digital "my studio" hard drive
and to use it on my g4's i have to use this fw400<->fw800 adapter
which works fine but the thing is very awkward and it
doesnt stay in the port all that well.
perhaps i need to get a different adapter, but
this card for the right price could be beneficial to people
who dont have need for their slots for other purposes!

note that this is a 64bit pci-x card!

^^ note this other fw400 product they offer uses the "NEC" chipset and is 32bit while the above one uses "Texas Instruments" TI chipset and is 64 bit

heres the stupid adapter i have to use
althought its not the same brand its the same awkward long shape

actually mine is the opposite.. it changes the end of a fw800 cord to be compatible with a fw400 port
