ho-ho... NO!
aBc:
Anyone else see this, hear about it, or was affected by it? :o
Seems that our older machines AND software have again just gone up in value?
Recent move to monthly-use (rental?) fees (instead of outright software purchase)
might have wrought new circumstances that some users might not have foreseen?
Mat:
Well, … I saw this coming already 20 years ago. But "manual content review" is another step ahead in direction of total control. I am so sad that we were not able to preclude such methodes of huge companies. But it is also one point why I still use our beloved system and never got a smartphone.
Why the hell did people start to accept all of this?
aBc:
Agree. It most certainly does not (and never did) bode well for end user.
Especially chilling when they went to that “rental stream” approach.
You don’t own the use (or perhaps apparently) your end product work entirely.
No thanks, indeed.
And again, another reason why my G4 workstations remain standalone machines.
Philgood:
Time to invest in some maintenance cap-kits for my power supply’s…I will be rocking my Powermacs for the foreseeable future
GaryN:
Disgusting? Yes. Surprising? No. Not in the slightest.
The best part is that unless you agree to that crap, you lose access to your own unfinished work.
Again, this is nothing new. I have album art that I created in CS3 that I can no longer access with my bought and paid for CS3–on–DVD apps. What to do? I bought Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher and I'm never looking back.
Although… I'm going to hang on to all of the CS3 and CS5 discs I have in anticipation of the day someone solves that issue. 8)
