Curtis Roads supercollider files problem
« on: December 25, 2019, 06:15:45 PM »

I have a zip file Roads gave me a while back. Lots of supercollider 1 software he wrote, But the file associations are messed up. They do not identify with supercollider one. Something has been lost. Can anyone work this out

here is the zip;

so, i am in OS9 now.

the executable is okay, just the files are not.

as i dont find it in my collection i would just fix i for you - but it is SC1, which doesnt use the same type/creator code as SC2. :)

if you could ul a single non-corrupt script ...

How did you fix these files?

I have another one.
This is the max object of sc1. Mainly interested in Pyrite doc, Which is the only one that doesn't open in max. Ive looked at it in some text apps, and I can see its basically an sc1 manual.
But its full of junk text cause the right app isn't opening it.

changing the creator code was enough.

i wasnt sure first, because SC2 files have 4 forks (including RMAP and a data fork), but the other two are just the text formatting settings - and SC1 do not even have those.

for audio files i also had to find out their type first to make sure everything fits.

do you have a HD full of this stuff? then you should be given the right tools for it.

SC1 is so much different from SC2, i can hardly read it. i have never used [pyrite] for the same reason (started max in 2001)

max externals do need the right creator code only for load-by-doubleclicking.

which is a useful function to find out if something will work in pre-PPC or in max 3 only - or who is the author of it.

No, I just searched the web. Roads gave me that first file.

Is there a way to open the file Pyrite doc did anyone look at it? All the others open in max.

SC1 is way easier than sc2 or 3. Less options, but I like to pull the bit rate way down. I like how the wavetables and envelopes have there own edit window. Its fun
