Steinberg V-Stack
« on: August 22, 2023, 03:05:49 PM »

I read that Steinberg V-Stack 1.2 is first Mac OSX version and for Jaguar (OSX 10.2). Is there older MacOS9 version?
Does somebody have any version for Mac? I am interested how it works in stand alone mode and remote controlling thru midi. Can user define controllers? If can then I would like make controller map for Mac OS 9 DAW.

nope, osx only.

cubase/logic/DP make a fine standalone host - and when you do not have enough instrument slots in a program, you can patch your instruments to appear as effect.

nope, osx only.

But, from Cubase 5.2pb1 readme:
"
WHAT IS NEW IN CUBASE VST MAC 5.2pb1?
 Features
 - New Preferences option (Edit -> Preferences -> MIDI -> Playback): "Disable Thru for VST/Rewire Input"
 - System Link implemented
"

So can it be that you can slave OSX machine with System Link of V-Stack to OS9 Machine with Cubase 5.2pb1?

Are you aiming at a os9 machine dedicated as
Vst host for processing?

LF: Steinberg Cubase MAC Standard/Score/Audio v1-3, especially v1 Cubase Audio ADB Dongle, Cubase VST/24, VST/32, IK T-Racks v1 (ADB Dongle version). Jupiter Systems JVP (Box only), Pro Tools v1-4 (Incomplete as well) -> PM ME if you have any of those.

v-stack has system link. but i would not count on it.

it might be interesting to include windows-only software in a setup, but you could as well use MIDI.

I never noticed that !  I stopped using 5.2pb1 (Public Beta) because it had a bug in "prepare archive" (think it locks up) that was not present in V32 5.1r1; shame they never finished 5.2

My aiming is to run MIDI and Audio tracks and some virtual instruments and fx in MacOS9 machine and some another virtual instruments and fx in another machine.
