Digi Mix Core and Sample Cell
« on: November 28, 2018, 02:03:28 PM »

Anyone know, if a Digi Mix Core and a SampleCell can be used together with out the need of a digi interface?

The manual doesn’t really touch on this. Says the Sample cell i/o show up in the digi I/o, but it says nothing about if you still need a interface.

Although it mentions haveing a two track tdm system?

Thanks

Yeah... not sure about Sample Cell but to make use out of a Mix system you'll need an interface hooked up.

samplecell has direct outs on the back bracket of the card itself --  4 x stereo 1/4" as far as i know

I know the SampleCell can be used by itself, and that it has 1/4 ins and outs. An I know the mix system needs a interface, but I’m wondering if the inface can be side stepped if the SampleCell is connected to the mix core with the tdm bridge.

Anybody have a Mixcore and sample cell they would be willing to test this theory. Basically  just unplug the digi interface and see if it still works?

Unfortunately No.......
SampleCell has 8 outputs 4 Stereo Pairs using a Ring, Tip sleeve cable
In order to send those outputs to a Mix system you would need a TDM Piggyback board
that was sold separately back in the day. Think of the piggy back board as a Digital Out like on
your favorite hardware sampler. It only worked in one direction sending the SampleCells
output Digitally to a Protools Mix TDM Bus.
