Lexicon core2 Drivers
« on: January 31, 2016, 01:01:54 PM »

Hi everyone!

Does anyone have or know where i can find drivers/software for Lexicon core2 please?
Apparently it is a rock solid card when used with OS9. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks,

Manu

Note:
If you are lucky enough to find a lexicon Core2 card with the optional MP-100 effects card
This installer includes VST plugins that control the effects and are of course saved with your session. Great sounding I/O and stellar Lexicon Reverbs all fully integrated.

I also wanted to point out that the Core2 card and MP-100 effects are fully supported by Logic on OS9.

Logic had a problem with the Older Lexicon Core32 card and PC-90 effects board.
where the VST plugins would not instantiate so you had to launch Cubase in the background to adjust the PC-90 effects.

Hey guys,

I've installed this driver into our 1.25 G4, but the Core2 app crashes instantly when I try to fire it up.  I also can't select it in Cubase...the card does have a couple LED's lit up, so it's definitely working - also has ADAT out red light active.

Anything to be aware of that might be causing a conflict?

Thanks!

it was mentioned in the other lexicon thread, that this hardware doesnt seem to want to play ball with power macintosh G4's
i dont quite understand how something can work on a g3 and not on a g4.. maybe it is an actual electrical difference..

but i do know that a similar restriction applies to my Echo Gina Card.. which works fine in my B+W g3, but does not work in any of my g4's!!!

based on the comments in the other thread, i think the lexicon studio project maybe only compatible with G3s?
is it the cpu? or is it the mainboard? or combo of both? not sure... this is why i have both g3 + g4s
compatibility is always a nightmare to sort out

the core 32 card predates the g4's - so it was designed to work with the BEIGE G3 machines + other non-g3 PPC Power Macintosh systems (8600, 9600, 8500, 9500, 7600 etc)

as far as i know it should work with b+w "new world" g3s aswell.. but for whatever reason; there seems to be some type of hardware incompatibility..

does it flat out not work at all? or is it buggy?
what are the symptoms?

remember the core 32 was the first version from lexicon
the core 2 was the 2nd revision.. THIS particular thread was originally about the 2nd Revision

(software above posted by enabler is not relevant to the core 32 as far as i know.. only the core 2)

Ya, mine's the Core2 card.  The app crashes when you fire it up, and Cubase crashes when you try to select it as an interface, so it's just not gonna work.

I'll see about acquiring a G3!

you could sell it off to someone who already has a g3;
and get a better card for your g4..
ie: a card made in the "modern" os9 days (ie:2001,2002,2003,2004)
rather then the "pre-os9 days" (ie: 1997,1998)

i think alot of people would agree most sound cards really got alot better in the modern os9 days

BUT WAIT !!!
if you are talking about the core 2 - then i think u are misunderstanding my post

i was talking about the Lexicon Studio "Core 32" card from lexicon (which came out in 05/1998)
the core 2 lexicon came out as a new version of the original (hence the name "Core 2")
core 2 was a followup release to the original core 32.. released in the year 2000 (when g4s were selling like hotcakes)
the core32 is the one that is supposedly g3 only
the core 2 lexicon is supposed to work just fine on a g4 (from what i read?)

lets start over;
which specific/exact g4 model are you using?

lets review some info:

Macintosh

Blue and White G3 or G4
64 MB RAM (this is minimum, 128 MB will yield better performance)
Audio - capable disk drive
Mac OS 8.6 or 9
ASIO compatible applications only
Note: Core2 is not compatible Macintosh OSX.
so now we have simple confirmation that it *IS* compatible with either of the b+w g3 + G4 machines
*ASIO compatible applications only* means it wont support "sound manager" i think

did u install an ASIO driver for the core 32 into the cubase application folder?
did u use v1.20 or v2.10 of the driver software?

I bought a G3...the Lexicon card still doesn't work in it.  Are we sure it's not a 9.2.2 issue with the driver?

I did install the ASIO driver - in fact, it requires that a VST app is installed first, so I made sure that Cubase was installed right from the start.  But, it's still crashing when I either select the ASIO driver inside Cubase, or when I open the preferences from the Finder...

I found this message on other site:
"Hi, I've been using a Lexicon Core2 audio card with a PowerMac G4 400MHz running on Mac OS 9.2.2 for 2 years now,and it worked great.I recently got a PowerMac G4 1250MHz "Mirrored Drive Doors", and I've not been able to get the Core2 to work, even when I'm booting on OS 9.2.2. (I know the card is not Mac OS X compatible) Did anybody encountered this problem or has an idea on how to solve this issue?"

Still no answer for it but I see Core2 works fine on PowerMac3,1 (anyway it does not work on my MDD as well)

Remove all ATI extensions except those responsible for acceleration
