it was mentioned by "greatinterface" that logic may not function properly playing audio if you have more than 1gb of ram installed
I had observed the same error + had thought it was just a bad cracked copy of logic but apparently removing ram and being at 1gb exactly or under
will make logic function normally!!

amazing information, i was trying all summer to get this to work.. ( u can see in the comments of the above download link on the macintosh garden how crazy i was going not understanding why it was working for a little while + then would stop working...!!!! and it was all  becuase of being over 1gb of ram!)
and the machine had 1.12gb of ram somehow from the combination of ram sticks.. :o

thank u greatinterface for this information!!

wow im pretty sure i tried to use this crack wayy back in the day back around 2004 and i had the same problem probably because i had a g4 with 2gb of ram maxed out...
unbelievable;)

WOW!,yeh it's sure a fantastic software but I had to stop at 4.7 because the authorizor files for the audio instruments didn't work after I upgraded. Great to have3 both versions on separate partitions, get the best of both worlds cool audio instruments with the 4.7 authorisor and reliable reWire with 4.8. If I could ust remember the trick for hiding the RAM without taking it out ...

So I've got a MDD dual 1.25ghz coming with 1.75GB of RAM, I'm not bothered to run OS X on it as it'll be dedicated to 9, but should I reduce the RAM to 1GB?  I'll be using Logic 4.8.1... thanks!

MIDI +Audio in Logic is very buggy with a circular structure issue. There is however no Ram limitation if running only MIDI. I've been running Logic 4.7 MIDI only with other programs and VST's of all kinds for over 15 years without any misbehavior.

To answer Steve_W's question, if you plan to use audio objects then yes you will have to reduce RAM to 1 GB MAX.  I learned the hard way years ago by trial and error.  The only time I was ever able to get audio out of logic with more than 1GB is when using the sample edit window only.  But coachla is correct.  MIDI only and you should be fine.

OK great fellers thanks, looks like I'll be reducing it as I am heavy on audio (lot of sampling!)
