Hello here !
It's a long time I keep getting back to MacOS9lives!!
I subscribed today because I try to get qemu to work and after failing miserably I came again looking for bootable qemu images ready made.
For some reason I do not see how to make new posts on the forum, and the topics where the images by DieHard can be downloaded are off limits.
I started by the Mac OS 9 iso from Internet Archive and this one is corrupted.
the Machintosh Garden one is corrupt too.
Then I tried two of those available from the download page of MacOS9lives!! but those were in formats that were not possible to deal with directly with qemu.
With Sheepshaver and toast 5.0.2 I was able to extract and convert one, but then qemu says my .img is corrupt. (while it works on Sheepshaver)
For some apps I need at least 9.1
My Mac story started with a IIcx and System 6.0.3
skipping a lot, my adventures made me work on IIfx then the Iicx was converted to a Quadra 700
I had a 840AV, an Amiga 1200 then 4000, the 840AV got converted to a PPC8100, then I had various clones, and the wonderful 9600/350
A G4 grey, then a quicksilver.
Now the models that are still in use are mostly Mini G4s (changed a fan yesterday, it was noisy)
Some very bad big box G5s
The Mini G4 is a fantastic machine : in 2024.
The reality is that I work with mostly Tiger Shuriken with heavy use of classic. For the web I Chicken to a Macpro 2013/Monterey.
Sheepshaver does not cut it, because on some stations I need access to 2Tb of data at once.
3 rooms are taken by obsolete and mostly not working hardware, as I acted as a black hole on eBay to find spare parts and spare machines for years, but now I can't take it anymore, it is time to move my working environment to emulation.
But, for various reasons I am forced to still use some old apps, with huge 20 000 pages needing to be corrected and re-printed on demand.
And I LOVE the look of classic Mac the simple interface, the snappy-ness, the fact that icons stay in place, the lack of bloat, etc, isn't it beautiful ?
(picture my 9.0.4 on Sheepshaver)

I have one successful station that is a Sonoma 2018 mini with Sheepshaver that has both network and printing direct postscript ability.
My target situation would be to recycle all those 3 rooms of nonsense hardware and have each of my 3 stations with Mini M4 using Sequoia + QEMU and two would be 9.2.2 and one would run Tiger.
(the power bill will be better too)
It it possible to convert a Sheepshaver .dsk to work with QEMU ?
