Hello guys,
My name is patrick, I'm french and I live in France, in Montpellier (south of France near the mediterranean see). Thanks to the forum I've been able to install mac OS 9 on a PowerMac G4 733 Mhz Quicksilver I had just acquired. It was yesterday.
The first thing I've done was to register to this forum using a freshly installed Netscape 7. I wanted to say thank you.
The PowerMac G4 733 Mhz Quicksilver is a machine I could not afford when I was young. I'm now 57. As many, the first Apple thing I got was an iPod. The first iMac I bought, I kept it only for one day because it was missing some clunky softwares I was used to, and because I was still kind of stupid at the time. I gave it to my son, who was more than happy with it.
I got the idea of getting some old macintosh after reading an article in "Infinite loops - Ars Technica" about HyperCard. After that I watched an interview of Bill Atkinson (the father of HyperCard) on Youtude (Triangulation 244 with Leo Laporte). After some testing with emulators, I wanted to get the real thing. And that's how I came here.
I had no idea there were still so many people and sites devoted to the old macintosh. I have some things to discover. It's kind of a gold mine to explore.
